Model and series come first
The badge sets the starting point. A GTS-R W1, a Gen-F2 GTS or a Maloo R8 LSA sits in a different world to a daily-driven VE Clubsport. Within each model, the series matters: Gen-F2 cars generally carry more than Gen-F, and E3 more than E1, because of the later updates and the end-of-line appeal.
Limited runs (W1, GTS-R, GTSR Maloo, 30th Anniversary cars, the last-of-line builds) are priced on rarity, not on age or kilometres alone.
Kilometres and condition
Low-kilometre, unmarked cars attract collector money. Once a car has been driven properly the gap narrows, and condition, history and spec matter more than the odometer.
We look at paint, panel gaps, wheels, interior wear, tyres and how the car drives. Honest photos of any marks get you a firmer offer and no surprises at inspection.
Service history
A complete logbook, receipts and documented work add real value. Gaps in history, especially on supercharged LSA cars, are one of the most common reasons an offer comes down.
Manual or auto, colour and options
Manuals are sought after in most HSV models and usually carry a premium. Launch and hero colours (and rare colours on limited builds) help. Factory options like sunroofs, MRC (magnetic ride) and factory performance packs all move the number.
Modifications
Tasteful, well-documented work from known workshops can hold value. Heavy modification usually narrows the buyer pool, so original parts, dyno sheets, tune details and receipts make a big difference. If you still have the factory exhaust or wheels, tell us.
Why online valuation tools miss HSVs
Generic valuation sites price an HSV off Commodore data and a handful of listings. They can't see build numbers, history or spec. A specialist looking at your actual car will give you a far more realistic number.
Questions sellers ask
How do I get an exact value for my HSV?
Send us the details and a few photos through the form. A person reviews every car and comes back with a real offer, usually the same business day.
Do modifications increase an HSV's value?
Sometimes. Quality, documented work can hold value, but heavy modification usually narrows the buyer pool. Original parts and receipts help.
Is a manual HSV worth more?
In most models, yes. Manual cars are sought after and usually carry a premium over autos.
